Carex scopulorum (Mountain Sedge)

This plant occurs throughout the western United States as a mid-forest to alpine species. It is typically found in meadows or openings in very dense turfs and grows up to 18 inches tall. It is a wetland species and occupies soils near seeps, lakes and streams.
